Quick Guide to Drummore...

Some things are just good to know! Here's a quick guide to meals, uniforms, transport... etc

If you think there's anything we should add, let us know!

School Hours

The school day runs from 9am to 3pm. Pupils have a 15 minute playtime and a 30 minute outside play at lunch.

Transport

Most of our pupils are transported to Drummore by bus or taxi. The pick ups generally run between 8am and 9am, depending on the distance being travelled and the other children who are on the same run. The bus will wait for 3 minutes outside.

Our buses and taxis all have guides to support the children. If you need to contact your bus guide, please phone the school office (01419441323).

Absence

All absences should be reported to the school by contacting the office. Jill is there from 8.30am. We know that this might mean the bus turns up to collect your child, but that's not a problem, just wave us away!

Illness at School

If we feel that your child is too unwell to remain in school we will contact you to collect them. If they have sickness or diarrhoea, we ask that they remain at home for 48 hours to stop bugs spreading.

We are careful to follow current procedures and stay vigilant for symptoms of Covid 19.

Medications

All medications are kept out of pupil reach. Their administration is recorded and witnessed. We require permission to administer medication and the label on the bottle must say the pupil's name and be in date. Please notify us promptly of any changes to medication.

Uniform

Our uniforms can be purchased through ordering online or via the school office. The uniform is a yellow polo shirt and black bottoms and jumper. We know that uniform can be expensive, there is no pressure to buy jumpers or t-shirts with our logo and there are always extras handed into school which you are welcome to request.

We understand that clothing feel and changes can be difficult for many of our pupils. If for whatever reason your child would have difficulty wearing a uniform, that's absolutely fine. We occasionally have non-uniform days or dress up days for special occasions - these are completely optional too!

We get out in all weathers and we love messy play!

Food in School

Our pupils get toast and a drink of milk or water for a snack in class each morning.

Pupils eat lunch either in their class or the dining hall. Our menu is the Fuel Zone as with all Glasgow schools. You can access the current menu here.

Some children bring their own lunch or snacks, this is absolutely fine. We encourage healthy eating wherever possible.

We understand that many of our children have limited diets. We encourage tasting new things without pressure and plan experiences with food as part of our curriculum. Please let us know if there's a new food they'll eat at home so we can offer them this at school too.

Personal Care

We treat all of our pupils with respect at all times and are sensitive to the privacy of personal care.

Many of our pupils require some support with this, including some pupils following toilet training programs. We work in partnership with families to set appropriate goals for this and only attempt progressing when we agree the child is ready.

Outings

We love to get out and about on our buses and most classes will be out at least once a week. We will notify you of any outings within the Glasgow area and request permission for trips further afield. We risk assess all outings and ensure we are well staffed to allow a safe and fun experience.
